Prompt for Foucault's Discipline and Punish

All,

Below are some discussion point's for next week's reading.

Who or what is the agent of historical change for Foucault? What motivates the agent(s) and which is more important for Foucault, the former or the latter?

How is society in Discipline and Punish ordered differently that in Bloch’s History of Feudalism Vol. 1? How does the concept of identity inform this difference and how does Foucault account for the evolution from one system to another?

How does the role of individuality inform Foucault’s narrative of social control and how might his view contradict or complicate the Marxist perspective?

Have a pleasant Columbus' or Indigenous Peoples Day (depending on your point of view).

Respectively,
Brandan P. Buck
